Shell and Chevron launch the Whale facility in the Gulf, set to produce up to 100,000 barrels daily.

Shell and Chevron have started production at the Whale floating production facility in the Gulf of Mexico, expected to produce up to 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Located in deep waters over 8,600 feet deep, the facility uses energy-efficient systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 30% compared to similar operations. Shell operates the facility with a 60% stake, while Chevron holds 40%.
