Nigerian court rejects former Central Bank governor's jurisdiction challenge in $4.5B fraud case.

The Lagos State Special Offences Court in Nigeria has dismissed former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele's challenge to the court's jurisdiction in a $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion fraud case. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged Emefiele with 26 counts of abuse of office. The court struck out the first four counts, relating to foreign exchange allocation, as they were not punishable under Nigerian law. The trial will continue on February 24.
