Inmate attacks deputy, causing injuries, on New Year's Day at Syracuse Justice Center.

On New Year's Day, 24-year-old inmate Nyitaire Nelson attacked a custody deputy at the Syracuse Justice Center in Onondaga County, New York, while the deputy was removing trash. Nelson hit the deputy multiple times, causing injuries that required medical treatment. The deputy was treated and released from Upstate Medical Center. Nelson was charged with second-degree assault and remains in custody.
