A 13-year-old girl from India, Rakhi Dhakre, has left her family to become a sannyasini, or female renunciant, at the Mahakumbh festival. Now named Sannyasini Gauri Giri, she has chosen to live with her spiritual guide, Mahant Kaushal Giri Maharaj, dedicating herself to spiritual practices despite initial doubts about her readiness. The Mahakumbh is a major Hindu event held every 12 years.
