Starting Jan 8, U.S. travelers to the UK need an Electronic Travel Authorization costing $13.

Starting January 8, 2025, U.S. citizens and nationals must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to visit the United Kingdom. The ETA costs around $13 per person and takes about 20 minutes to apply online. This requirement applies to travelers from 47 countries, including the U.S., Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Those with a valid visa for living, working, or studying in the U.K. are exempt from this process. The ETA serves as a digital registration that must be shown along with a passport upon arrival.
