EU court orders European Commission to pay damages for GDPR violation involving citizen's data.
The EU General Court has ordered the European Commission to pay 400 euros in damages to a German citizen for violating the EU's data protection rules. The violation occurred when the citizen's IP address was transferred to Meta Platforms in the US while registering for a conference using the "Sign in with Facebook" option. This marks the first time an EU institution has been held financially liable under the GDPR.
