Chinese firm BYD faces scrutiny for bringing workers to Brazil under irregular visas, with some in "slavery-like conditions."

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD has brought hundreds of workers from China to Brazil using irregular visas for a factory construction, according to a labor inspector. Reuters reported that 163 workers were found in "slavery-like conditions," leading to fines and the suspension of visa issuances for the company. BYD has promised to comply with local labor laws for remaining workers.
