Venezuela severed diplomatic ties with Paraguay on January 6th, expelling its diplomats. This move follows Paraguayan President Santiago Peña's support for Venezuela's opposition. The action comes days before Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro's inauguration for a third term, following a disputed July election. Opposition candidate Edmundo González is also claiming victory, supported by international figures.
