South Sudan sees spike in civilian deaths, abductions, and sexual violence despite drop in overall attacks.

Communal violence in South Sudan has led to a significant increase in civilian harm, with 299 killed, 310 injured, 151 abducted, and 32 experiencing conflict-related sexual violence between July and September 2024. Despite a 4% drop in violent incidents, the number of victims rose 24%. Abductions and sexual violence incidents sharply increased by 132% and 33%, respectively. The UN Mission calls for accountability and action to address these issues.
