Ontario police used DNA genealogy to identify a man missing since 2002, found dead in the Detroit River.

Ontario Provincial Police used investigative genetic genealogy to identify a man found dead in the Detroit River in 2003 as James Raymond Stewart, who went missing from Detroit in 2002. The technique, used since 2019 in 23 cases, helped solve this 21-year-old cold case, offering closure to Stewart's family. The cause of death remains undetermined but foul play was ruled out.
