India mandates organic export certifications, aiming to double organic food exports by 2030.
The Indian government has introduced a new procedure requiring all exported organic products to be certified under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) and to have a Transaction Certificate (TC) issued by an accredited body.
This step aims to boost organic food exports, targeting $2 billion by 2030.
Since 2012-13, organic exports have increased from $213 million to $494.80 million in 2023-24, with key items including cereals, processed foods, tea, spices, and dry fruits.
