India's Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a new scheme offering cashless treatment to road accident victims, covering up to INR 1.5 lakh for seven days.
The scheme, to be rolled out nationwide by March, requires accidents to be reported within 24 hours and will be managed by the National Health Authority.
Gadkari highlighted 1.8 lakh road deaths in 2024 and proposed more driving training centers and a policy to scrap old vehicles to boost the automobile industry and encourage recycling.
