Cougar sightings lead to closure of Ammonite Falls Regional Trail near Nanaimo, BC.

The Ammonite Falls Regional Trail in Nanaimo, British Columbia, has been temporarily closed due to an aggressive cougar reported near the trail since New Year's Day. The Regional District of Nanaimo has notified the B.C. Conservation Officer Service and advises hikers to leash pets, travel in groups, and carry bear spray. The trail will remain closed until further notice.
