Pakistan enters carbon market, seeking financial support from developed nations post-COP29.

Pakistan has moved to enter the carbon market, approved by the federal cabinet, following COP29 in Baku. Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, urged developed nations to support Pakistan and other developing countries financially and technically. The guidelines aim to foster transparency and integrity in carbon trading. While this could generate millions for Pakistan through carbon credits from projects like afforestation and clean cookstoves, climate activists criticize the lack of transparency and quality concerns in some carbon projects.
