Himachal Pradesh plans to invest Rs 1,585 crore to upgrade healthcare, including MRI machines, to keep patients in-state.

The Himachal Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, plans to invest Rs 85 crore in advanced MRI machines for three medical colleges and aims to spend Rs 1,500 crore to modernize healthcare facilities state-wide. This move addresses the inadequacy of local healthcare, which forces 9.5 lakh residents to seek treatment outside the state, causing an annual loss of Rs 1,350 crore. The initiative includes equipping Community Health Centers with essential diagnostic tools and improving hospital infrastructure.
