Abdul Rahman al-Qaradawi, an Egyptian opposition activist, was arrested in Lebanon and faces potential deportation to Egypt, where he is wanted for charges of opposing the state and inciting terrorism. His family fears for his life if deported, citing human rights abuses in Egypt, and has appealed to Lebanese authorities for his release. Al-Qaradawi was arrested on December 28 at Lebanon's border with Syria.
