Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has approved the separation of the Inland Revenue Service and Customs departments by March 31, 2025. This reform aims to improve revenue collection and port operations as part of a broader effort to address a significant revenue shortfall of around PKR 7.1 trillion. The Federal Board of Revenue will be split into three boards to oversee different tax policies, enhancing governance and efficiency.
