Minneapolis sees first homicide of 2025 as 21-year-old man is shot dead in city's north.

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot in Minneapolis on January 1st around 6:20 p.m. in the 3200 block of Fremont Avenue North. Minneapolis Police Department responded to the scene where the victim was found with life-threatening gunshot wounds; he later died at the hospital. This marks the city's first homicide of 2025. Minneapolis saw 76 homicides in 2024, a significant increase. Police Chief Brian O'Hara is urging anyone with information to come forward. No arrests have been made yet.
