Guatemalan and Salvadoran security forces join UN mission in Haiti to fight gang violence.
Security forces from Guatemala and El Salvador have joined a UN-backed mission in Haiti's capital to combat escalating gang violence. The contingent includes 75 Guatemalans and eight Salvadorans, supporting Kenya's nearly 400 police officers and others from Jamaica and Belize. The mission aims to bolster Haiti's national police, but faces challenges as gangs control much of Port-au-Prince and violence persists.
