Germany hits nearly 60% renewable energy usage in 2024, led by wind and solar power.

In 2024, Germany generated nearly 60% of its electricity from renewable sources, up from 56% in 2023. Wind energy led with 31.9%, followed by solar at 14.7%. Despite a slight rise in electricity consumption, overall power generation dropped by 4.2% to 431.7 terawatt-hours, mainly due to a decline in fossil fuel usage. Germany also saw a significant increase in battery storage capacity and a rise in electricity imports.
