Tennessee mandates MVRs for new residents from eight states without S2S verification starting Jan 10.

Starting January 10, 2025, Tennessee will require residents moving from eight specific states to present a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) issued within 30 days when applying for a driver's license. These states have not joined the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators’ State-to-State (S2S) Verification Service, which currently includes 41 states. The S2S system aims to improve road safety and reduce fraud by sharing real-time driver information, while those from non-participating states must provide an MVR.
