Sanford Health merges with Marshfield Clinic to form a large Midwest healthcare system.
Sanford Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System have merged to form a single nonprofit health system, operating under the Sanford Health name. The combined system serves communities in the upper Midwest, including South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It includes nearly 56,000 employees, 56 hospitals, and 4,500 providers. Marshfield Clinic will continue as a region within Sanford Health, with no immediate changes to patient care.
