Michigan restarts Black Lake sturgeon fishing season, limiting catch to six fish starting Feb 1.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced the return of the Black Lake sturgeon fishing season starting on February 1 in Cheboygan County. Anglers must register online by January 31 and have a valid fishing license. The season will end either when six sturgeons are harvested or at the end of a day if five are caught, with fishing hours from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, concluding February 5. Participants must bring bright red flags and report catches to DNR personnel for registration and examination.
