Glasgow's first medically supervised drug consumption room opens next week to combat addiction.

Glasgow's first drug consumption room, set to open on January 13, will offer a medically supervised space for drug users, aiming to encourage them to seek further addiction support. Initially proposed in 2016 due to an HIV outbreak, the facility faced political debates and delays, including final checks on its systems. Approved by local authorities and supported by Scotland's Lord Advocate, the room is part of a drug treatment facility and will be open 365 days a year from 9am to 9pm.
