White Sox trade pitcher Tyler Gilbert from Phillies, designate Braden Shewmake for assignment.
The Chicago White Sox traded for left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert from the Philadelphia Phillies, sending minor league right-hander Aaron Combs to the Phillies. To make roster space, the White Sox designated infielder Braden Shewmake for assignment. Gilbert, 31, had a 3.24 ERA in eight relief innings for the Phillies this year, while Combs, 23, was drafted by the White Sox in 2024 and performed well in Class A. Shewmake, 27, struggled with a .125 batting average in his time with the White Sox and Braves.
