On January 1, 2025, over 200 participants took the plunge into the frigid Susquehanna River at Harrisburg's City Island for the 28th annual Penguin Plunge. Organized by the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, the event raised around $30,000 to support local animal welfare efforts. Despite cold temperatures and strong winds, participants and spectators enjoyed activities like adoptable dogs, food trucks, and a costume contest.
