USDA expands cheaper coconut-based animal feed project to Western Visayas to aid farmers.

The Department of Agriculture has expanded its Protein-Enriched Copra Meal (PECM) project to Western Visayas to offer a cheaper alternative to imported soybean meal for animal feeds. Developed by the University of the Philippines Los Baños, PECM uses coconut by-products and aims to reduce feed costs for farmers impacted by rising prices due to global supply chain issues. This expansion supports local agriculture and food security.
