UK MPs demand financial penalties if government doesn't hasten Post Office scandal compensation.

UK MPs have called for financial penalties if the government fails to speed up compensation for victims of the Post Office scandal, which wrongfully convicted hundreds of sub-postmasters due to faulty IT systems. Currently, only £499 million of the £1.8 billion budgeted has been paid out, with the Post Office spending £136 million on legal fees. The committee also recommends removing the Post Office from handling compensation and introducing legally binding timeframes. The government claims to be working to speed up the process.
