Kenyan runner Beatrice Chebet broke the women's 5,000m world record by finishing in 13 minutes and 54 seconds at the Cursa dels Nassos in Barcelona, becoming the first woman to run under 14 minutes. The 24-year-old, who also holds the 10,000m world record, plans to compete for gold in Tokyo's World Championships. In the men's race, Matthew Kipkoech Kipruto of Kenya won with a time of 13:28.
