Ford recalls nearly 20,500 hybrid SUVs due to a battery defect that could cause failures.

Ford is recalling around 20,484 hybrid SUVs, including certain Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair models from 2020 to 2024, due to a battery defect. The issue involves a manufacturing flaw in the high voltage battery cells that could cause an internal short circuit and battery failure. Dealers will update the battery energy control module software and replace the battery pack if needed, free of charge to owners.
