Cuba has released Raul Ernesto Cruz Leon, a Salvadoran national who served 30 years for participating in 1997 hotel bombings in Havana. The bombings, allegedly orchestrated by Cuban exile Luis Posada Carriles, targeted Cuba's tourism industry. Cruz Leon was initially sentenced to death but had his sentence reduced to 30 years in 2010. Cuba demands removal from the U.S. list of nations that sponsor terrorist groups.
