Canadian Coast Guard plans to refloat MV Maccoa by unloading 3,000 tons of corn stuck in St. Lawrence River.

The Canadian Coast Guard plans a second attempt to refloat the MV Maccoa, a ship stuck in the St. Lawrence River northeast of Montreal since December 24 due to a power failure. Owners will start unloading over 3,000 metric tons of corn on Thursday to lighten the ship, with refloating scheduled for Sunday. Rain could delay the operation as corn cannot be unloaded in the rain. The ship, with a crew of 20, remains stable with no pollution detected. The corn will be transferred to two barges, each holding 1,500 metric tons.
