In 2024, Alzheimer's research made strides with more accurate blood tests for diagnosis and the FDA approval of Kisunla, a treatment to slow the disease's progression. Studies linked wildfire smoke to increased dementia risk more than other air pollutants, and new criteria for Alzheimer's diagnosis now include physical brain changes. Recognizing caregiver struggles, the Alzheimer's Association launched an 8-year program with CMS to support caregivers and patients.
