Nigerian police in Benue State charged over 250 suspects and rescued 34 kidnapping victims in eight months.

Over the past eight months, Benue State Police in Nigeria have charged 250 suspects to court and arrested 273 for capital offenses, recovering 20 firearms and 51 rounds of ammunition. The police also rescued 34 kidnapping victims and arrested suspects for armed robbery, cultism, rape, and cybercrime. The commissioner noted challenges with cultism and the killing of elderly people over witchcraft allegations, including the recent Christmas Day killing of an elderly woman.
