Iowa approves permanent rate hike for Black Hills Energy, raising the average bill by $2.38 monthly.

The Iowa Utilities Commission has approved a rate increase for Black Hills Energy starting January 1, 2025, replacing a temporary increase from May 2024. The average residential bill is expected to rise by $2.38 per month. Since 2021, Black Hills Energy has invested about $100 million in system improvements to enhance safety and reliability. The change affects around 160,000 Iowa customers.
