China expands elderly care initiatives, investing in home care, nursing facilities, and protection for its aging population.

China is stepping up elderly care initiatives amid a rapidly aging population, which now makes up over 20% of its citizens. Officials outlined progress in home-based care, nursing facilities, and senior protection for 2024, including 300 million yuan for meal assistance programs and 358,000 new in-home care beds. By October 2024, 404,000 elderly care institutions were in place. For 2025, the Ministry of Civil Affairs plans to boost social participation and protect legal rights for the elderly.
