Nvidia acquires Israeli AI startup Run:ai for $700M, expanding its AI market influence.

Nvidia has finalized its $700 million acquisition of Israeli startup Run:ai, which focuses on optimizing AI computing hardware. The deal, which faced regulatory scrutiny from both the European Commission and US Department of Justice, was approved by European regulators in December. Run:ai’s software, which was previously exclusive to Nvidia products, will now be open-sourced, allowing it to be used with hardware from competitors like AMD and Intel. Nvidia’s acquisition aims to expand its influence in the AI market, where it already holds a dominant 80% share in graphics processing units (GPUs).
