Kentucky considers bill holding parents liable for up to $2,500 in damages from crimes by their gun-wielding kids.
Kentucky lawmakers will consider a bill in January that would hold parents responsible for up to $2,500 in damages when their children under 18 commit crimes involving guns.
Sponsored by Rep. Kim Banta, the bill aims to increase parental supervision and accountability.
Parents could be liable if they allowed their children to have guns, knew of previous gun law violations, or believed their child might be violent.
If passed, the bill will go to Governor Andrew Beshear for approval.
