Today, China commissioned its new deep-sea research vessel, Tan Suo San Hao (Exploration No.
3), in Sanya, Hainan.
The 104-meter-long, 10,000-ton vessel can travel 15,000 nautical miles and has ice-breaking capabilities.
It will be used for deep-sea exploration, equipment trials, and underwater archaeological missions in the South China Sea starting next year, with dives planned for late 2025 using the Deep-Sea Warrior submersible.
