AfDB approves $2.2 billion for agro-industrial zones in Nigeria to boost food security and agriculture.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a $2.2 billion fund for developing Special Agro-Industrial Process Zones (SAPZ) in Nigeria, with construction set to begin in some states from 2025. Initially approved in 2021, the project faced delays but is now progressing. The AfDB, alongside co-financiers like the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the Islamic Development Bank, aims to boost food security and agricultural development through agro-industrial hubs and transformation programs.
