Russia ends moratorium on intermediate-range nuclear missiles, citing U.S. withdrawal from INF Treaty.

Russia will end its moratorium on deploying intermediate and shorter-range nuclear-capable missiles, according to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This decision follows the U.S.'s deployment of such weapons globally, ending the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, a key Cold War arms control agreement. The U.S. withdrew from the INF Treaty in 2019, citing Russian violations. Lavrov noted there are currently no conditions for strategic dialogue with the U.S., amid strained relations.
