Life expectancy dropped in most countries in 2020-2021, with the U.S. seeing the biggest decline.
An Oxford University study found that life expectancy declined in 21 of 24 countries in 2020, with the US experiencing the largest drop of 2.1 years for males. Despite this, suicide and accident mortality typically declined during the pandemic years. Japan and South Korea saw minimal life expectancy losses.
