Couple wins NYC housing lottery, buys Brooklyn home for $690K through rehabilitation program.

Tanese Orr and her husband, Robert Lashley, won the NYC housing lottery and purchased a two-family house in Brooklyn for $690,000, originally valued at $1.1 million, through the Small Homes Rehab-NYCHA Program. This program helps low- and moderate-income families buy FHA-foreclosed homes. Since 2015, the program has facilitated the sale of 61 homes. The couple took out a $691,000 mortgage with a down payment of $36,369 and received a $15,000 assistance loan. They rent out the upstairs apartment to help cover costs.
