Central New South Wales towns reported substantial poker machine profits, prompting new regulations for venues.

Over the past year, central New South Wales towns, including Dubbo, Orange, and Bathurst, saw significant poker machine profits. Dubbo, with 406 machines, led with a net profit of $30.27 million, followed by Orange with $23.12 million from 317 machines, and Bathurst with $17.55 million from 272 machines. New 2024 rules require venues with over 20 machines to have a Responsible Gambling Officer on duty to address problematic gambling.
