WHO identifies a "mystery disease" in Congo as a deadly mix of respiratory infections, malaria, and malnutrition.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified a "mystery disease" in a remote region of the Democratic Republic of Congo as a combination of acute respiratory infections, malaria, and malnutrition. Since late October, 891 cases and 48 deaths have been reported, with children under five most affected. Over 60% of rapid tests were positive for malaria, and common respiratory viruses like the flu were detected. The WHO emphasizes the need to strengthen healthcare access and address food insecurity in the region.
