Tamalpais Union High School District pays $17.5M to settle lawsuits over tennis coach's sexual abuse of students.

The Tamalpais Union High School District in Marin County has agreed to pay $17.5 million to settle lawsuits filed by four former students who accused their former tennis coach, Normandie Burgos, of sexual abuse. Burgos was convicted in 2019 and sentenced to 255 years in prison for 60 counts of child molestation. The district was accused of failing to protect the students. The settlement does not admit wrongdoing by the district.
