Northern Territory sees rise in crocodile removals near popular parks, triggers 10-year reduction plan.

In 2024, 265 crocodiles were removed from Northern Territory waterways, slightly down from 272 in 2023. However, concerns have risen due to the increase in crocodiles near popular swimming spots in Litchfield National Park, with 21 removed this year compared to seven in 2023. The Northern Territory government has launched a 10-year plan to reduce the population, including increasing egg collection and culling. This move comes after the population grew from around 3,000 to over 100,000 since 1971.
