New Joplin Expo venue to revitalize local conventions post-2018 closure, set for spring 2025 debut.
Joplin Expo, a new 40,000-square-foot event venue in Joplin, Missouri, is set to revitalize the area’s convention scene following the 2018 closure of the John Q. Hammons Convention Center.
Led by Jason Williams, the project aims to attract large conventions and boost local businesses.
Phase one, expected to be completed by spring or early summer 2025, includes converting the former Macy's store at Northpark Mall.
Phase two will add concessions and a cafe area.
The venue's large parking lot and reciprocal parking agreement with the mall will help accommodate visitors.
