Iowa AG's office cleared officers in the fatal shooting of Charles Alan Leonard III, who held hostages with an air-soft gun.
The Iowa Attorney General's office has cleared two Des Moines police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Charles Alan Leonard III on November 26, 2024. Leonard held a receptionist at gunpoint at Elsie Mason Manor. After helping the hostages escape, officers shot Leonard when he raised his weapon, which turned out to be an air-soft pistol without an orange tip. Leonard had mental health issues and drug addiction.
