Indian electronics firms urge government to cut import duties on phone parts to boost industry.
The electronics industry in India has requested the government to cut import duties on key mobile phone components, such as inductor coils and printed circuit board assemblies, and proposed reducing the duty on microphones and speakers from 15% to 10%.
They also seek duty-free imports for some PCBA parts, currently at 2.5%, and highlighted that India's tariffs on mobile components are higher than in China and Vietnam.
Other requests include subsidies for product testing, extending a 15% corporate tax waiver, and setting up dedicated manufacturing clusters for components.
